Job summary

BMO Financial Group is building a dedicated AI Engineering function and seeks a Senior AI Architect to serve as the singular architectural authority overseeing enterprise AI architecture. You will govern cross-organizational AI initiatives and ensure coherence across platform, domain, and regulatory needs.

Responsibilities include setting direction, coordinating with security, DevOps, and data engineering, and guiding architectural decisions for Microsoft AI surfaces and bank-wide AI platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS or Software Engineering or related field; Master’s preferred.
• 10+ years in software engineering, solution architecture, and enterprise architecture across multiple teams.
• 3+ years AI/GenAI architecture with production GenAI exposure.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the target AI architecture for the enterprise.
• Set direction across Directors and squads; resolve competing approaches.
• Provide governance for major AI initiatives at Architecture Review Board.
• Own architectural coherence of Microsoft AI surfaces across two operating orgs.
• Lead assessment of emerging AI capabilities and translating market changes into defensible positions.
• Partner with AI Platform & Fabrics to realize the target architecture; ensure domain patterns conform.
• Mentor architects and principal engineers; grow architectural capability across the function.
• Establish transition architecture for AI-incubated platforms toward enterprise ownership.
