Job summary

BMO U.S. is building enterprise AI platform capabilities to keep AI safe, governed, and scalable.

We are seeking Principal/Senior engineers to build and operate the core infrastructure that governs how AI runs at BMO, including the AI Gateway, Policy Engine, Identity Fabric, AI Registry, Guardrails Runtime, and AI Observability. This build-and-run role requires hands-on engineers who own platform services end to end, deliver runtime evidence for policy enforcement, and mentor others while

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software/platform engineering; enterprise-scale experience.
• Experience operating production infra with SLOs and on-call in regulated industries preferred.
• Deep knowledge in policy, identity, observability, and compliance data platforms.

Responsibilities

• Own capabilities end to end: design, implement, test, ship, and operate production infrastructure.
• Engineer for operability, latency budgets, failure modes, and runtime evidence.
• Build APIs, interfaces, and integrations consumed by domains and pipelines.
• Implement policy enforcement, guardrails, identity attestation, and audit as first-class concerns.
• Ensure runtime evidence connects AI activity to policy and lineage for reviews.
• Mentor and raise engineering standards; review designs and code.
