Job summary

Vanderbilt Health in Nashville is seeking a Surgery Scheduling Specialist PRN for the ENT Clinic. The role coordinates with patients, physicians and the operating room to schedule surgeries, verifies eligibility and precertifications, and supports efficient workflow.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 2:30pm–5pm, PRN as needed, with opportunities to contribute to improved scheduling and patient service within Vanderbilt Bill Wilkerson Center’s Otolaryngology team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in scheduling or medical administration.
• Experience coordinating with patients, physicians and surgical teams is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate surgery schedule with patient, physician and operating room.
• Verify patient eligibility and obtain precertifications; discuss potential financial obligations.
• Obtain required insurance approvals prior to procedures; communicate with billing for documentation.
• Monitor schedule and optimize resource use; adapt to changing priorities.
• Support compliance and documentation in patient records and scheduling systems.
