Qualifications

• Proficiency with copiers, fax machines, phones and computers.

Responsibilities

• Greets and checks in patients, verifies and updates insurance information.
• Screens visitors, confirms appointments, and directs to appropriate area.
• Interviews new patients, records registration information in the system.
• Answers calls, takes messages and transfers as needed; handles emergencies.
• Schedules and reschedules patient appointments via computerized scheduler.
• Totals charges, collects payments, and issues receipts; schedules future visits.
• Maintains cash control and reconciles end-of-shift cash.
• Instructs patients on preparations, insurance requirements, and forms.
• Obtains referrals or financial waivers as required.
• Distributes forms and materials; completes office-related correspondence.
• Ensures reminder calls and follow-ups are completed; maintains orderly workspace.
• Participates in quality improvement activities.
