Job summary

Cal Poly Maritime Academy in Vallejo, CA is seeking a Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) Student Assistant to support admissions, recruitment, financial aid, and registrar activities. The role includes staffing the Mayo Hall front desk, assisting with SEM data entry and analysis, and representing Cal Poly at events.

The position is open to current Cal Poly Maritime Academy–Solano Campus students, offering up to 20 hours per week, at an hourly pay rate of $16.90.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal, written, listening) skills
• Reliable, show up on time for all scheduled shifts and events
• Ability to engage with a variety of diverse populations in both small and large group settings
• Enthusiasm for Cal Poly and Cal Poly Maritime Academy
• Willing to learn about CSU admissions requirements along with Cal Poly/Cal Poly Maritime Academy programs and services
• Be open to coaching and mentoring and campus tour training
• Attention to detail when completing office related tasks
• Critical thinking and problem solving skills

Responsibilities

• Support customer service efforts across SEM including admissions and recruitment, financial aid and the registrar
• Facilitate campus tours for prospective students, families, supporters, counselors, and community-based organizations
• Staff the front desk in Mayo Hall
• Answer SEM emails and phones
• Complete SEM data entry/analysis and research projects
• Complete on-campus errands as needed
• Other duties as assigned
• Staff recruitment events and represent Cal Poly at select on- and off-campus outreach and recruitment events
