Job summary

Idaho Falls School District 91 is seeking an EL support specialist to assist English Learners. This role includes language screening administration, coordinating instructional needs with classroom staff, and providing translation and interpretation services as requested.

The position involves working with staff and students to improve English proficiency and requires familiarity with EL programs. The role reports to Building Administrator and is geared toward supporting EL students in a school

Qualifications

• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred but not mandatory.
• Familiar with the special needs of English Learners (EL).
• Ability to work and communicate with staff, students, and the public.
• Computer knowledge with word processing, e-mail, spreadsheets, etc.

Responsibilities

• Administers WIDA Screener for ELs and ACCESS for ELs.
• Works with teachers and building administrator to determine instructional needs of each student.
• Provides services according to needs of each EL student.
• Maintains required student files per federal, state and local guidelines.
• Monitors student performance with a tracking sheet for EL students.
• Observes and records EL student progress in academic and language areas.
• Modifies instructional materials as directed.
