Qualifications

• Minimum 48 college credits or ParaPro Praxis 457.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish (verbal and written).
• Familiar with the needs of English Learners (EL).
• Ability to work with staff, students, and the public.
• Desirable experience in a school setting.
• Willingness to learn ESL methods and materials.

Responsibilities

• Administers pre- and post-tests of the Language Survey.
• Works with the classroom teacher and building administrator to identify instructional needs.
• Provides services according to EL student needs.
• Maintains required student files per federal/state/local guidelines.
• Monitors EL student progress with tracking sheets.
• Attends inservice classes, meetings, and district programs.
• Provides translation/interpretation for EL students or parents.
