Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools seeks an English Learner (EL) Teacher to provide instructional leadership, plan EL programs, and support classroom teachers in delivering language development for identified EL students.

The role includes serving as EL lead for school-wide LIEP implementation, developing lesson plans, assessing student progress, maintaining records, and collaborating with families and staff to meet student needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Valid NC Teaching certification or eligible for NC Teaching certification in assigned area.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement an EL program of study that meets the needs, interests, and abilities of assigned students.
• Instruct students individually and in groups using various teaching methods.
• Create a classroom environment that provides for student engagement in the learning process and enables students to achieve learning objectives.
• Prepare for classes assigned, and show written evidence of preparation upon request.
• Diagnose the learning challenges of students and maintain IEP/504 documentation.
