Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools seeks an English Learner (EL) Teacher to provide instructional leadership and support for EL students under moderate supervision. The role includes developing lesson plans, implementing school-wide LIEP, and monitoring student progress within a 10-month, certified schedule.

Reports to the Principal and works on CMS premises. The position requires a Bachelor's degree and NC teaching certification or eligibility, with responsibilities ranging from curriculum alignment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Valid NC Teaching certification or eligible for NC Teaching certification in assigned area.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist school administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct; maintain classroom order.
  • Plan and implement an EL program of study that meets the needs, interests, and abilities of assigned students.
  • Instruct students individually and in groups using various teaching methods.
  • Prepare for classes assigned, and show written evidence of preparation upon request.
  • Meet with parents/guardians to discuss student progress and resolve issues.
