Job summary

Chicago Public Schools seeks an English Learner Program Teacher (ELPT) to lead EL program development and coordinate EL services across the school. This role focuses on supporting school leadership, delivering professional development on ELD instruction, and engaging families of ELs to participate in their children’s education.

Qualifications

• Bilingual/ESL endorsement required.
• Knowledge of standards (WIDA ELD, CCSS).
• Understanding of district EL policies and procedures.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Advocate for EL culture and languages.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate administration of mandated State-prescribed Screener within 30 days of enrollment.
• Enter Screener results in Aspen.
• Review EL rosters and ACCESS reports for proper placement/transition.
• Distribute parent letters with translations via Aspen intranet.
• Collaborate with special education staff on IEPs for ELs.
• Maintain EL profiles in Aspen timely.
• Coordinate ACCESS testing within mandated timeframes & report submissions.
• Document EL PD participation and EL program reviews.
• Attend ELPT trainings and share information with admin, teachers, and staff.
• Monitor transitions (T1-T4) and provide additional supports as needed.
• Collaborate with testing coordinator on EL testing accommodations.
• Support EL teachers and ILT discussions; align instruction with CCSS & WIDA ELD.
