Job summary

St. Charles Community College invites qualified candidates to apply for the Full-Time Faculty position in English to begin Fall 2027 for the 2027-2028 academic year. The successful candidate will teach composition and participate in online and in-person modalities.

Minimum qualifications include an MA in English or 18 hours of approved English coursework; experience with LMS (Canvas/Blackboard) and online teaching is preferred. Salary ranges are posted; background checks and EOE statements apply.

Qualifications

• MA in English (including Literature and/or Creative Writing) or at least 18 hours of approved coursework in English.
• Experience teaching composition is desirable; online and in-person modalities are used.
• Experience using a Learning Management System (Canvas, Blackboard, etc.).
• Demonstrated excellence in online teaching and QM certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Instructors should expect to meet all deadlines and use standard software, including Microsoft Office.
• Teach and assess courses in English with attention to student learning outcomes.
• Maintain office hours convenient for students and provide timely feedback.
• Participate in professional development, assessment activities, and committee meetings.
• Perform ongoing student and program assessment to enhance student success.
• Share in college duties including attendance reporting and record keeping.
• Contribute to continual improvement through data analysis and collaborative work.
