Experience teaching composition is especially desirable, as composition will constitute a significant portion of the selected candidate's teaching load. Courses are offered in multiple modalities, including online and in-person.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, student learning, assessment, and the effective use of technology to improve student learning outcomes. Faculty responsibilities include participating in professional development and assessment activities, attending faculty and committee meetings, and performing other duties as assigned. This is an on-site position requiring regular campus presence and availability to teach in person. The English faculty member reports to the Dean of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Faculty are responsible for instruction, grading, record-keeping, and compliance with legal and institutional obligations. Instructors should expect to meet all deadlines and to use standard software, including the Microsoft Office suite, as appropriate. Instructors must conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views:

• Impart expertise, enthusiasm, and creativity in one's instruction to a diverse student population with various learning styles and abilities.
• Effectively prepare and present course content, drawing upon disciplinary knowledge, skills, research, and applications to design engaging and effective learning experiences.
• Maintaining the appropriate number of office hours at times of day convenient for students.
• Providing meaningful feedback, and timely responses to students' work and questions.
• Meeting all division, department, and college deadlines:
• Maintaining accurate records of student attendance and reporting attendance as required:
• Keeping careful grade records throughout the academic term:
• Attending scheduled faculty meetings and training sessions:
• Perform ongoing student, program, and college assessment activities, including analysis of course assessments, evaluations, and data to engage in continuous improvement to enhance student success, retention, and completion.

Minimum Qualifications:

• MA in English (including Literature and/or Creative Writing) or
• At least 18 hours of approved coursework in English (including Literature and/or Creative Writing)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience teaching first- and second-year students in Composition 1 and 2, particularly those in community college, developmental, or secondary education settings.
• Experience using a Learning Management System (Canvas, Blackboard, etc.).
• Demonstrated excellence in online teaching and are Quality Matters (QM) certified

Salaries:

Instructor $60,076; Assistant Professor $66,178; Associate Professor $72,753 - Rank will be assessed at the time of hire based on years of experience and education based on pre-determined criteria.
