Job summary

Indian River State College seeks an Assistant Professor I in English to teach English composition and develop engaging learning experiences. You will assess student performance, support student success through office hours, and contribute to a dynamic learning environment across online, on‑campus, and hybrid formats.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in English, English Education, Creative Writing or a Master’s with 18 graduate hours in English from a regionally accredited institution.
• Proven knowledge of and experience in composition instruction.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to teach diverse populations in multiple formats (in-person, online, blended).
• Credentialing for SACSCOC as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Teach a minimum of 36 semester hours annually.
• Develop syllabus and course schedule; prepare and grade coursework.
• Hold regular office hours for student meetings.
• Maintain course content in the college LMS.
• Teach courses as assigned with campus times and locations.
• Use data and assessment tools to evaluate and improve instruction.
• Collaborate to improve student outcomes and curriculum.
• Participate in faculty committees and college activities.
