Job summary

Indian River State College invites applications for an Assistant Professor I in English who will guide students through composition courses, develop meaningful learning experiences, assess performance, and support success via regular interaction and office hours. Qualifications

• Master’s degree in English, English Education, Creative Writing or Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in English from a regionally accredited institution.
• Proven knowledge of and experience in composition instruction.
• Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written.
• Ability to work with and teach to diverse populations.
• Ability to teach in a variety of formats including, in-person, online, and blended/hybrid.
• Meeting the credentialing requirements for the SACSCOC.

Responsibilities

• Teach a minimum of 36 semester hours annually.
• Develop a syllabus and schedule for each course.
• Prepare, instruct, and grade all coursework in a timely manner.
• Assign final grades and hold regular office hours.
• Maintain course content in the College’s LMS.
• Teach courses as assigned with flexible campus locations.
• Use data and assessment tools to evaluate and improve instruction.
• Contribute to curriculum development and student outcomes.
• Participate in faculty committees and student clubs.
• Fulfill duties as defined by the faculty contract and administration.
