Job summary

Elmwood Village Charter School (EVCS) seeks a dynamic Special Area Teacher for Buffalo, NY, to deliver standards-aligned instruction in designated content areas (Art/Music/PE/Library/Dance/Spanish/Literacy) to K–8 students.

You will foster an inclusive, positive learning environment, differentiate for diverse learners including English Language Learners, and collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate interdisciplinary themes.

Qualifications

• New York State Teaching Certification required (e.g., Literacy Specialist, ENL, Visual Arts, Music, PE, Library Media, Dance, or Spanish/World Languages)
• Bachelor’s degree in Education or relevant content area; Master’s degree preferred

Responsibilities

• Implement standards-aligned curriculum tailored to the designated content area (Art/Music/PE/Library/Dance/Spanish/Literacy).
• Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom culture aligned with Responsive Classroom.
• Differentiate instruction for diverse learners including students with IEPs and English Language Learners.

Plan schoolwide events and/or performances that showcase the content area.* **Assessment & Reporting:** Conduct ongoing formative and summative assessments; maintain accurate student records; and provide clear, growth-oriented feedback to students and families through report cards and conferences.* **Professional Development:** Actively participate in faculty meetings, professional learning communities (PLCs), and staff development workshops focused on continuous improvement.## Qualifications### **Qualifications & Requirements*** **Certification:** Possession of a valid New York State Teaching Certification (e.g., Literacy Specialist, English as a New Language, Visual Arts, Music, Physical Education, Library Media Specialist, Dance, or Spanish/World Languages).* **Education:** Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education or the relevant content area.
