Elmwood Village Charter School in Buffalo, NY seeks a dynamic Special Area Teacher for K–8. The role focuses on Art, Music, PE, Library, Dance, Spanish or Literacy, delivering standards-aligned instruction in a positive, inclusive environment.

You will differentiate instruction for diverse learners, collaborate with classroom teachers, and contribute to schoolwide events. A NYS teaching certificate and a bachelor’s degree are required; a master’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Certification: Valid New York State Teaching Certification.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education or the relevant content area (Masters preferred).
• Experience teaching elementary or middle school in urban settings is highly valued.
• Strong collaboration and communication with families and colleagues.

Responsibilities

Plan schoolwide events and/or performances that showcase the content area.Assessment & Reporting: Conduct ongoing formative and summative assessments; maintain accurate student records; and provide clear, growth-oriented feedback to students and families through report cards and conferences.Professional Development: Actively participate in faculty meetings, professional learning communities (PLCs), and staff development workshops focused on continuous improvement.Qualifications & RequirementsCertification: Possession of a valid New York State Teaching Certification (e.g., Literacy Specialist, English as a New Language, Visual Arts, Music, Physical Education, Library Media Specialist, Dance, or Spanish/World Languages).Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education or the relevant content area.
