Engineering Technician Software Testing
The GBS Group has an exciting opportunity for an Engineering technician with software testing skills. As a Engineering technician and Software QA Tester with GBS, you will work both independently and with a team of programmers and engineers on complex projects related to Naval ship platforms. The position will help develop and confirm operation of software suites and perform system testing to ensure their proper functionality. You will perform static and dynamic testing in a land‑based test site environment and troubleshoot both hardware and software to assist at land‑based test sites as well as shipboard.
Responsibilities
- Perform software testing and system troubleshooting.
- Utilize lab instruments such as Fluke meters, voltage simulators, and other test equipment.
- Read electrical diagrams and schematics.
- Work with control system interfaces such as process sensors.
- Document issues, faults, or deficiencies found during testing; identify root causes and provide solutions.
- Provide remote troubleshooting assistance to onsite representatives.
- Test analog and digital signals.
- Create, execute, and record test procedures and reporting results.
- Manage electrical systems and control system communication and signals.
- Perform configuration management of all developed software, hardware, and documentation using tools such as Git, Teleologic DOORS, SharePoint, Office, and project management software.
- Understand and apply Agile project management and Scrum Master responsibilities, including planning and leading daily scrums, sprint meetings, burn‑down chart creation, and backlog management.
- Follow cybersecurity awareness protocols.
Qualifications / Required Skills
- High‑school graduate or trade school graduate with industrial facility experience in electrical or control system environments. Navy or military experience is a plus.
Minimum Experience
- Four or more years of engineering experience in the operation, testing, and maintenance of navy or industrial systems, including ships, navy hulls, mechanical, electronic, or electrical systems.
- Experience working with navy or industrial blueprints and technical manual drawings.
- Experience with documentation such as technical manuals, test procedures, and maintenance instructions.
- Professional skills including teamwork, strong verbal and written communication, presentation of reports and findings, planning and scheduling, attention to detail, problem solving, desire to learn, good work ethic, and hands‑on troubleshooting.
Physical / Mental Requirements
- Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.
- Basic math computational skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% if required.
Pay & Benefits
- Salary: $75,000 – $90,000 based on experience.
