Job summary

The State of North Carolina, Department of Transportation, Division 6 District 2, is seeking an Engineering Technician III (S) to review driveway permits, site plans, and encroachment agreements and to perform field inspections.

The successful candidate will communicate with utilities, contractors, property owners, and the public, prepare deficiency letters, and support emergency operations, with expected qualifications including an associate degree in engineering technology and three years of

Qualifications

Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or related field with 3 years of progressive technician experience.
Ability to review plans, contracts, specs and inspection procedures.
Ability to communicate with the public and co-workers effectively.
Familiarity with drafting software and office tools.

Responsibilities

Process and review driveway permits, site plans, encroachments and subdivision plans.
Conduct on-site inspections for compliance with NCDOT specs.
Meet with utility reps, contractors, property owners and others to discuss policies.
Prepare deficiency letters related to road additions, driveways and encroachments.
Assist the Division during emergencies and inclement weather.
Support the District Engineer with assigned tasks.
