Job summary

North Carolina Department of Transportation seeks an Engineering Technician I to support construction inspection, surveying, materials testing, and traffic control on highway projects. You will perform data entry into HiCAMS and Shareplus, collect field data, and maintain records while working with engineers and technicians.

The role requires ability to obtain and maintain testing certifications, lifting up to 50 lbs, and occasional night/weekend work.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments.
• Experience in customer service related to resolving problems that involve complicated engineering concepts to various customer groups.
• Knowledge and skills in the use of computer equipment, iPad, and software.
• Experience maintaining standard daily records and reports.
• Knowledge of standards and specifications and plan reading experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform standardized and non-standardized tests and data processing.
• Enter project information into HiCAMS and Shareplus.
• Inspect roadway and bridge projects and manage field records.
• Lift up to 50 lbs and work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as necessary.
