Job summary

North Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking an Engineering Technician III (S) for Division 6 District 2 in Cumberland County. This advanced technician reviews driveway permits, site plans, encroachment agreements, subdivision plans, and road additions/abandonments; conducts on-site inspections and pre-construction meetings.

You will work with utility reps, contractors, property owners, and the public, preparing deficiency letters and supporting field inspections.

Qualifications

• Associate degree and three years of progressive technician experience or equivalent combination.
• Ability to review construction plans, contracts, specifications, and inspection procedures.
• Strong communication with the public, contractors, and internal staff.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret driveway permits, encroachments, and subdivision plans.
• Perform on-site inspections to ensure DOT specifications compliance.
• Prepare deficiency letters and conduct pre-construction meetings.
• Coordinate with utility representatives, property owners, and contractors.
