Job summary

Terracon in Greenville, SC is seeking an entry-level field technician to perform materials testing and inspections on construction projects. You will handle field and/or laboratory testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel, while coordinating with project managers and client reps.

Travel to sites and maintain equipment with a strong emphasis on safety. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, minimal experience, and a willingness to obtain certifications such as ACI and

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 6 months experience required.
• A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.
• Obtain ACI certification within 90 days of hire.
• Obtain Nuclear Density Gauge certification within 6 months of hire (preferred).
• Successful completion of related internal safety certifications (required).

Responsibilities

• Under close supervision of higher level technicians or staff professionals, assist on tasks and perform basic testing and observations duties.
• Provides clear documentation of findings and results.
• Communicates information to Project Manager and discusses accuracy of data in preparation for submittal.
• Submits documentation and communicates results as directed by the Project Manager.
• Will be placed in a progressively increased role of training and responsibility in work assignments.
• Maintains assigned equipment.
• Follow safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects. Perform pre-task planning prior to executing work. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
• Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
