Job summary

M&T Bank seeks a Lead Software Engineer to drive development and modernization of the Enterprise Messaging Hub in Buffalo. You will provide technical leadership for scalable, secure messaging and alerting across Digital Banking, designing APIs and microservices.

You will mentor engineers, lead architecture and modernization efforts, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver reliable software on Linux environments, wired into CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or equivalent in a related field with 5+ years of experience.
• Strong Java and Spring Boot expertise.
• Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Experience with Oracle SQL or other RDBMS.
• Experience troubleshooting production systems.
• Linux command line proficiency.
• CI/CD pipeline implementation.
• Strong Git knowledge.
• Experience secure coding practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support enterprise-grade applications using Java, Spring Boot, and REST APIs.
• Lead Spring Boot microservices on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, deployment, and release management.
• Define and implement API and integration strategies across enterprise platforms.
• Mentor engineers and drive architectural decisions and best practices.
• Provide technical assessments aligning requirements with business needs.
• Design real-time alerting leveraging enterprise sources (Mainframe, MQ, databases, APIs).
• Define and drive application architecture and modernization strategies.
• Lead incident resolution and ensure platform reliability and resiliency.
