Job summary

Precision Castparts is seeking an engineering leader to plan and drive strategic product initiatives from concept through production. You will lead a small engineering team, solve technical challenges, and ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability targets.

The role requires hands-on problem solving, strong cross-functional collaboration, and proactive process improvements. You will collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, and external partners to deliver

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering discipline required.
• Minimum 6 years of product development and engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated success leading cross-functional engineering projects from concept through production launch.
• Proficient with solid modeling and engineering product documentation practices.
• Experience with prototype development, testing, validation, and problem-solving methodologies.
• Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills.
• Experience designing plastic components for injection molding applications required.
• Experience with high-pressure injection molding processes and tooling reviews preferred.
• Experience with PDM systems, ERP systems, and engineering change management processes preferred.
• Experience working within ISO-based quality management systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and execution of strategic product initiatives from concept through production.
• Provide leadership and development for a small engineering team.
• Drive continuous improvement in project execution and engineering processes.
• Coordinate cross-functional activities between Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, Operations, and external partners.
• Develop, review, and approve product designs and technical specifications using SolidWorks.
• Provide technical leadership through design reviews and root cause analysis.
• Lead prototype development, testing, and validation activities for performance and manufacturability.
• Collaborate with suppliers on component development and injection mold tooling reviews.
• Support engineering change management and continuous product improvement efforts.
• Supervise, coach, and develop assigned engineering personnel including performance management and hiring support.
• Promote accountability and effective communication within the engineering team and across departments.
• Drive improvements in project execution and ISO-based quality systems.
