Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking an Engineering Supervisor I (NS) to provide technical and administrative support to the Division Maintenance staff. The role oversees diverse maintenance projects, manages the Division Resurfacing and Preservation program, and ensures policy consistency across the division.

Responsibilities include budgeting, tracking expenditures, generating reports, coaching peers, developing new maintenance contracts, and administering ID/IQ

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering and three years progressively responsible experience, or an equivalent combination.
• May require registration as a professional engineer.
• Legally eligible to operate a motor vehicle.
• Experience budgeting, reporting, and cost tracking.
• Experience conducting meetings with employees, citizens and public officials.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance projects including Secondary Road Construction, Safety, High Impact/Low Cost, Disaster, and Contingency projects.
• Manage the Division Resurfacing and Preservation program.
• Support fiscal responsibilities through budgeting, tracking expenditures, generating reports.
• Coach peers and maintenance supervisors on budget management strategies.
• Develop new contracts for maintenance functions and administer ID/IQ contracts.
• Troubleshoot issues and ensure consistency in division policies and procedures.
