Job summary

RTX is seeking a Systems Engineering intern in San Diego to integrate hardware and software, develop test plans, and verify system requirements across the lifecycle. You’ll collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, support lab and field testing, and help implement solutions that ensure product performance.

Applicants must be pursuing a STEM degree with at least 60 credits by start, and have experience in data analysis, troubleshooting, and effective communication.

Qualifications

  • Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering Or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship session.
  • Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship session.
  • Experience with data analysis using tools such as Microsoft Office, Python, MATLAB and/or C++
  • Experience with troubleshooting technical issues in an academic or internship setting, including the use of common commercial test equipment (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, etc.)
  • We Prefer Prior RTX internship, Co-op, or work experience.
  • Experience with tools for instrumentation and collection of large data sets, data analysis and automation
  • Ability to analyze issues and define solutions
  • Strong communication skills including effective written, verbal, and listening skills
  • Proven strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities

Responsibilities

  • As a Systems Engineering intern, you will help integrate hardware and software, develop test plans and procedures, debug and evaluate system functions and interfaces, and verify system requirements in support of final sell-off to the customer.

What You Will Do

As a Systems Engineering intern at Raytheon, you will work as a contributor to integrate hardware and software, develop test plans and procedures, debug and evaluate system functions and interfaces, and verify system requirements in support of final sell-off to the customer. We put our systems together, exercise them in the lab or in the field, measure and analyze performance, and make sure our products work the first time and every time. Every day is a different set of challenges to overcome. You'll be expected to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and partner to implement solutions. In this role, you will support elements of program development, engineering testing, integration, field testing, production, system deployment, and/or post deployment support across the product lifecycle. You will get to know a little bit about every aspect of the system and have a direct hand in making it all work together supporting teams of engineers engaged in integration and test efforts.

What You Will Learn

Supporting Engineering activities related to testing and troubleshooting of hardware and software Functional analysis of real world and test data; trade studies to bring advanced features to fielded system Troubleshooting and failure data analyses, including root cause and corrective action processes and advanced use of lab or field test equipment System integration and test support Complete and compile detailed performance evaluations, including the use of analysis tools, such as MATLAB Maintain engineering databases

Relocation Eligibility

The salary range for this role is 42,000 USD - 88,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
