Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Project Engineering Manager to lead and execute large-scale, complex technical projects within the pork and packaged meat industry. You will oversee design, development, and implementation of innovative solutions, guiding a team of engineers and coordinating with vendors, plant personnel, and management.

You will apply engineering principles to optimize operations, manage schedules and budgets, and proactively mitigate risks to keep projects on track.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field and 5+ years of relevant experience.
• 2+ years’ leadership experience including team development and management.
• Ability to apply sound engineering principles to operational and design issues.

Responsibilities

• Develop engineering designs, material specs, and project cost estimates.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic analyses to support designs.
• Review engineering submissions for accuracy and ensure standards, codes, and drawings are met.
• Manage project execution by directing vendors and contractors and coordinating schedules.
• Lead contract administration, proposals, and budget monitoring for projects.
