Job summary
Weatherford is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing software team delivering industry-leading solutions for the energy sector. You will bridge engineering execution and strategy, drive team effectiveness, and participate in architectural discussions while focusing on people development and delivery leadership.
Based in Houston, you will work closely with Product Management to ensure alignment with business outcomes and maintain delivery health across initiatives,
Qualifications
- 10+ years software engineering experience, with at least 5 in management.
- Proven success leading product engineering teams in Agile environments.
- Experience managing full engineering delivery lifecycle from planning through production deployment.
- Experience growing and retaining engineering talent through coaching, mentoring, and structured development.
- Data-driven in using delivery metrics to drive team improvement.
- Capable of participating in architecture discussions and code quality decisions.
Responsibilities
- Directly manage a team of engineers across varying seniority levels, providing coaching and career development.
- Own overall delivery health, ensuring sprint commitments are realistic and met.
- Partner with Product Owners to align capacity with priorities and communicate forecasts.
- Lead Agile ceremonies and improve delivery metrics (velocity, cycle time, deployment frequency).
- Drive engineering standards, testing, and code quality; promote automation-first practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and Talent Acquisition on hiring and onboarding.
