Job summary

Airlock Digital is seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead the Server team, directing technical strategy and ownership of a mature security product. You will guide architecture, performance, and reliability, while empowering engineers across regions and levels.

You will stay hands-on in design reviews and critical implementations, balancing security with speed, and fostering a psychologically safe, high-performing team culture. Remote-friendly with global collaboration.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience designing, building, shipping, and sustaining complex server-side or enterprise software.
• Experience leading a mature product spanning multiple services and components.
• Strong knowledge of data modeling, indexing, and high-volume data handling.
• Proven ability to design secure enterprise applications and manage sensitive customer data.
• At least three years managing a software engineering team.
• Principal-level technical leadership and cross-team collaboration.
• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field preferred or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Set the Server team's technical direction, architecture, and priorities.
• Lead and develop engineers across countries and levels with clear expectations and feedback.
• Stay hands-on through design reviews, debugging, and critical delivery decisions.
• Evolve a mature codebase balancing delivery with security, reliability, and performance.
• Improve documentation, testing, automation, observability, and secure development practices.
• Lead investigations across systems and translate failures into lasting improvements.
• Coordinate with product, QA, SRE, DevOps, security, and customer teams to improve outcomes.
