Job summary

Discord is seeking an Engineering Manager for Safety ML, based in the San Francisco Bay Area or Remote U.S. You will own real-time and batch models for content understanding, account integrity, and platform abuse, and lead a team of ML engineers to ship production ML systems at scale.

You will work with Trust & Safety, Product, Policy, Legal, and Data Science to define capabilities, measure performance, and ensure operational health. A strong emphasis on mentorship and ownership is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years as ML Engineer, DS, or Applied Scientist.
• 3+ years as Engineering Manager leading 5+ engineers.
• Hands-on depth in abuse/fraud detection, content classification, behavioral modeling, graph-based modeling, or LLM-based classification.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead an exceptional team of ML engineers, hiring and coaching with ownership.
• Drive technical vision and roadmap for Safety ML with partners across Trust & Safety, Product, Policy, Legal, and Data Science.
• Own end-to-end lifecycle of production safety models, defining capabilities, measuring performance, and monitoring health.
• Collaborate to improve engineering processes and uphold workplace philosophy.
