Discord is seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead the Safety ML team responsible for detection systems handling real-time and batch models for content understanding, account integrity, and platform abuse. You will hire and mentor ML engineers, shape the technical roadmap, and ensure scalable production systems powering millions of enforcement decisions daily.

The role requires 5+ years in ML/DS, 3+ years in engineering management, and strong cross-functional communication.

Qualifications

• You have 5+ years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer, Data Scientist, or Applied Scientist.
• You have 3+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager with 5+ engineers.
• You have hands-on depth in abuse/fraud detection, content classification, or related areas.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead an ML engineering team by hiring, coaching, and driving ownership.
• Drive technical vision and roadmap for Safety ML with cross-functional partners.
• Own end-to-end lifecycle of production safety models and monitor health.
• Improve processes and raise the bar to deliver exceptional results.
• Partner with Trust Safety on label quality and automation of investigations.
• Collaborate with other Engineering Managers to enhance the org.
