Job summary

Sprouts Farmers Market in Phoenix, AZ, is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead day-to-day delivery and operations of an engineering team responsible for a defined product, service, or platform domain. The role reports to our Store Support Office in Phoenix with a hybrid work arrangement requiring in-office presence Tuesday through Thursday.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant software engineering experience, including hands-on leadership.
• People-leadership experience coaching software engineers.
• Track record owning a service/product/domain end to end.
• Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, Go, Python, or TypeScript.
• Knowledge of cloud-native engineering, Kubernetes, containers and CI/CD.
• Ability to review code and architecture to resolve cross-system issues.
• Experience with prioritization, delivery planning, sprint execution, and coaching.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, delivery, operation, and continuous improvement of a defined engineering product, service, or platform domain.
• Establish team goals, priorities, sprint plans, and accountability for results.
• Direct and review work of software engineers to meet objectives.
• Coach reports and partner with leaders on architecture and standards.
• Review code and architecture to assess tradeoffs and unblock decisions.
• Improve processes, systems, and team practices.
• Explain technical decisions to Product, Design, Data, and partners.
• Hire, onboard, develop, and manage performance per guidelines.
• Lead incident response and corrective actions for the team.
• Identify leadership or capacity needs and adapt team structure as the org grows.
