This is a remote-first role with regular collaboration across time zones; travel up to 10% may be required. Strong leadership, staffing, and people-management skills are essential, with no mandatory hands-on coding.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in software engineering with at least 3 years directly managing engineers.
• Experience staffing engineers across simultaneous projects or engagements.
• Experience leading a structured performance-review and calibration process.
• Familiarity with modern software delivery and cloud environments.
• Strong written communication and ability to collaborate with distributed stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Directly manage an initial team of seven engineers with coaching and development plans.
• Own performance reviews and calibration against the engineering leveling framework.
• Partner with leadership on compensation and progression decisions and communicate outcomes.
• Build a remote-first team culture addressing workload, burnout, and retention.
• Forecast capacity needs and staffing plans across internal and client engagements.
• Balance business needs with individual growth and wellbeing; resolve staffing conflicts.
• Maintain headcount records and report utilization, attrition, and hiring progress.
• Improve staffing workflows and protect confidential employee information.
