Job summary

Johnson & Johnson MedTech Surgery, Robotics and Digital seeks a Development Engineering Manager to lead a team supporting the OTTAVA Surgical Robotic Platform. You will translate priorities into tactical plans, drive design transfer, supplier collaboration, and manufacturing readiness to deliver robust medical devices.

The role requires strong people leadership, deep technical credibility in regulated development, and cross-functional collaboration with R&D, Quality, and Manufacturing to ensure

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum six (6) years of relevant professional work experience.
• Experience in product development, manufacturing engineering, and regulated environments.
• Experience leading engineers and cross-functional technical initiatives.
• Knowledge of DFM/DFA, design transfer, supplier collaboration, and manufacturing readiness.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop Development Engineers through coaching and performance management.
• Plan, develop, and transfer components, tooling, and processes for NPD/NPI programs.
• Provide technical leadership and drive design reviews, risk assessments, and PFMEA.
• Ensure compliance with quality systems, GMP, and regulatory standards throughout the product lifecycle.
• Align priorities with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Product Management, and suppliers.
