Job summary

Global Power Components in Milwaukee, WI, seeks an Engineering Manager for New Product Development and R&D to lead a team of Mechanical Design Engineers. You will drive concepts through product launches, oversee design validation, prototyping, and manufacturing readiness in a fast-paced metal fabrication environment.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in SolidWorks, DFM/DFA, and cross-functional leadership, with 7+ years in mechanical design and 3+ years in management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum 7+ years of mechanical design or product development experience, including 3+ years in an engineering leadership role.
• Proven experience leading New Product Development (NPD) programs from concept through commercialization.
• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks, PDM systems, and product design documentation.
• Significant experience designing sheet metal, weldments, enclosures, fabricated assemblies, or industrial equipment.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Mechanical Design Engineers.
• Drive end-to-end product development lifecycle from concept to production launch.
• Establish NPD priorities, engineering resource plans, and development schedules.
• Collaborate with customers, sales, product management, operations, and manufacturing teams to define requirements.
• Oversee mechanical design activities including SolidWorks modeling and prototyping.
• Lead cross-functional product development teams through milestones and risk assessments.
• Ensure products meet performance, quality, regulatory, reliability, cost, and manufacturability targets.
• Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Cost initiatives throughout development.
• Lead product innovation efforts and promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
• Support prototype builds, product testing, and design verification activities.
