Job summary

Thumbtack is seeking an Engineering Manager for the New Hiring Experience org, to lead a cross-functional product team and partner with Product, Design, Applied Science, and Data Science. You will set technical and product strategy, coach engineers across backend, frontend, iOS, and Android, and drive execution in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in an engineering management role.
• 5+ years building software at scale.
• Experience partnering with Product, Design, Applied Science, and Data Science to define product and technical strategy.
• Strong technical judgment guiding architectural and product tradeoffs.
• Experience leading senior engineers and coaching through growth and performance.
• Strong cross-functional communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience using experimentation, A/B testing, market-based testing, qualitative research, and metrics to inform decisions.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the technical vision and strategy for the team with Product, Design, and Applied Science.
• Collaborate with teams across the company to drive cross-functional initiatives and resolve dependencies.
• Drive execution against team goals and OKRs while guiding complex tradeoffs and delivering high-quality outcomes.
• Hire, coach, and manage full-stack engineers at all levels, including Staff+ engineers.
• Build and evolve a high-performing culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous learning.
• Maintain, scale, and operate the infrastructure owned by the team.
• Collaborate with engineering leaders to improve engineering practices in a high-paced growth environment.
