Job summary

Thumbtack is seeking an Engineering Manager for the New Hiring Experience org. You will partner with Product to set technical and product strategy, coach a full-stack team across backend, frontend, iOS, and Android, and drive execution with cross-functional counterparts.

As part of a high-visibility effort to revamp hiring journeys, you will help define goals, mentor engineers, and shape a culture of excellence while scaling critical infrastructure in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in an engineering management role.
• 5+ years of experience building software at scale.
• Experience partnering with Product, Design, and Data Science to define product and technical strategy.
• Strong technical judgment for architectural and product tradeoffs.
• Experience leading senior engineers and coaching through growth and performance.
• Strong cross-functional communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the technical vision and strategy for your team with Product, Design, and Applied Science.
• Collaborate with teams across the company to drive cross-functional initiatives and resolve dependencies.
• Drive execution against team goals and OKRs while guiding complex tradeoffs and delivering high-quality outcomes.
• Hire, coach, and manage full-stack engineers at all levels, including Staff+ engineers, and develop future technical leaders.
• Build a high-performing culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous learning on the team.
• Maintain, scale, and operate the infrastructure owned by your team.
• Work with engineering leaders to improve Thumbtack's engineering practices in a fast-paced environment.
