The successful candidate will oversee resources, manage complex projects, and ensure delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program with 5+ years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design, or a Master’s degree with 4+ years of relevant experience.
• ABET accreditation is required for Newport News Shipbuilding’s engineering roles.

Responsibilities

• Lead a multi-disciplinary team of engineers (mechanical, electrical, structural) and oversee resources for night-shift work.
• Coordinate engineering efforts for Reactor and Propulsion Plant projects and waterfront support.
• Resolve emergent issues during the 3rd shift and ensure timely, high-quality project delivery.
• Oversee planned work to meet schedule, budget, and quality standards.
• Interface with construction, production, test, planning, and material teams to ensure seamless collaboration.
• Monitor team performance and provide guidance, training, and feedback.
• Develop efficiency strategies to improve productivity across the engineering team.
• Prepare progress reports and present updates to senior management and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with external partners to assure successful project completion.
