Job summary

Civica is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a hands-on, player-coach software team delivering critical public sector services worldwide. You will recruit, mentor and support engineers while ensuring high quality and timely delivery.

You will champion modern engineering practices—Agile, CI/CD, automated testing, security and observability—collaborating with product managers and designers to identify requirements and craft scalable technical solutions.

Qualifications

• Experience recruiting, coaching, and mentoring software engineers.
• Deep knowledge of modern software development practices including Agile, CD/CI, automated testing, security, and observability.
• Ability to use engineering metrics to improve software quality and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, coach and manage software engineers.
• Help team deliver high-quality products by addressing problems and enabling support.
• Lead by example in engineering work and promote good practices.
• Design, develop, deploy and maintain software products.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers and other engineers to identify requirements and solutions.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
• Troubleshoot complex issues using logs, profiling, and debugging.
• Contribute to team documentation and tooling decisions.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, build and deployment.
