Qualifications

• 7–15 years of full-stack experience, with ≥1 year in people management.
• Hands-on leader who mentors while coding.
• Proficiency in React, TypeScript, Python, and Kotlin or Go; Java, PostgreSQL, AWS, Docker, Terraform, CI/CD.
• Experience with early-stage startups and govtech/public sector products.
• Familiarity with AI coding assistants in engineering workflows.
• Willing to work US time zones and travel up to 10%.

About the Role

Lead a core product engineering team at an early-stage govtech SaaS company building software for local governments. This is a hands-on, product-minded leadership role combining team development, technical direction, and direct engineering contribution.

What You'll Do

• Lead and mentor a team of 3 to 7 software engineers, supporting their growth and development.

• Partner with product and other teams to define and deliver the technical roadmap for core products.

• Spend approximately 20% to 30% of your time coding, reviewing code, and contributing to architectural design.

• Guide architecture decisions to build scalable, performant, and maintainable systems.

• Promote strong practices in code quality, testing, documentation, and engineering ownership.

What We're Looking For

• 7 to 15 years of full-stack software engineering experience, including at least 1 year as a people manager or team lead.

• A strong individual-contributor foundation and experience leading by example while remaining technically hands-on.

• Proficiency with React, TypeScript, Python, and Kotlin or Go, along with experience using Java, PostgreSQL, AWS, Docker, Terraform, and CI/CD.

• Experience in early-stage startups, customer-facing product development, and software for public-sector or government customers.

• Experience incorporating AI coding assistants into engineering workflows.

• Ability to work US time zones and travel up to 10% to meet customers.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary is $165,000 to $205,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.
