Job summary

AEP in Ohio seeks an Engineering Manager, Technology & Automation to lead a team focused on GridSmart performance, automation, and data governance. You will drive DER integration, ADMS readiness, and cross-functional deployment of new tech while ensuring data quality and systems integrity.

The role emphasizes coaching, KPI delivery, and building capabilities to support long-term grid reliability and modernization efforts.

Qualifications

Eight years' experience in distribution, construction, maintenance, and/or operations.
Five years of supervisory experience in distribution or equivalent.
Professional Engineer licensure preferred; PMP certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

Lead performance, uptime, KPIs for DACR, VVO and other distribution automation technologies.
Oversee cross-functional commissioning, troubleshooting, deployment and transition to production.
Ensure engineering data quality, governance and maintenance of critical data/models.
Position engineering for expanding GridSmart capabilities, DER, and ADMS readiness.
Drive automation and tech-enabled improvements to boost efficiency and reliability.
Lead workforce development: training, coaching, and succession planning.
Develop clear performance expectations and conduct reviews.
