Job summary

DAT Freight & Analytics is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead Broker Tech, the automation layer enabling pricing, matching, onboarding, booking, tracking, and settlement of freight with reduced manual effort.

You will manage 1–2 engineering teams (US-based staff and contractors) and own delivery end to end, including sprint planning, architecture guidance, and cross-team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Direct experience running 1:1s, performance conversations, and hiring
• End-to-end ownership of projects from planning through maintenance with measurable outcomes
• Ability to balance delivery urgency with team sustainability
• Technical grounding to discuss architecture and perform system design interviews
• Typically 8+ years of relevant industry experience for this level

Responsibilities

• Own Delivery: Run sprint planning, backlog refinement, and delivery forecasting; ensure commitments.
• Lead the People Side: conduct 1:1s, set expectations, write reviews, growth plans; recruit and hire.
• Oversee Contractor Teams: enforce same delivery and quality bar for contractors.
• Weigh In on Architecture: provide guidance on design and implementation for team systems; flag dependencies.
• Uphold the Bar: monitor engineering standards and identify refinement opportunities.
• Partner Across the Org: translate roadmap priorities into shipped work with Product; remove impediments.
• Share Knowledge: prevent single points of failure.
