Job summary

DAT Freight & Analytics is seeking an Engineering Manager to join Broker Tech in Portland. You will lead 1–2 engineering teams, own end-to-end delivery of systems, and guide architecture while coordinating with Product Management to translate roadmaps into shipped work.

You will oversee both FTE and contractor engineers, run sprint planning, and drive growth through 1:1s, performance conversations, and hiring.

Qualifications

• Experience running 1:1s, performance conversations, and hiring.
• End-to-end ownership of projects with measurable outcomes.
• Balance delivery urgency with team sustainability.
• Technical grounding to discuss architecture and perform system design.
• Typically 8+ years of relevant industry experience.

Responsibilities

• Own delivery: plan sprints, refine backlog, forecast delivery.
• Lead the people side: conduct 1:1s, set expectations, reviews, growth plans, hiring.
• Oversee contractor teams and align with FTE quality standards.
• Provide architecture guidance and flag cross-team dependencies.
• Uphold engineering standards and practices, identify gaps.
• Collaborate with Product Management to translate roadmap into shipped work.
