Job summary

Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) seeks an Engineering Manager – Construction for Eastern Region to lead a diverse team of engineers and construction professionals. You will ensure delivery of projects safely, on schedule, and within budget while complying with laws, policies, and standards.

Build partnerships with regional and statewide leaders, agencies, and stakeholders to solve complex issues.

Qualifications

• Lead, develop, and mentor supervisors and engineers to create a high-performing environment.
• Develop and implement strategies aligning with agency goals and safety priorities.
• Guide delivery of complex transportation programs involving multiple stakeholders.
• Interpret engineering plans and manage contract administration and change orders.
• Communicate effectively with executive leadership, agencies, and the public.
• Manage resources, workloads, and performance metrics for continuous improvement.
• Demonstrate a growth mindset and a service-oriented approach.

Responsibilities

• Plan, lead, strategize, organize, and control construction work across the region.
• Ensure optimal use of resources and provide professional development opportunities.
• Act for ARA for Construction in their absence and mentor office managers.
• Review projects, interpret contracts, and provide guidance to Project Engineers.
• Coordinate activities with HQ, other jurisdictions, and transit agencies.
• Maintain strong internal and external communication for project delivery.
• Develop and implement safety strategies for the organization and public.
