Job summary

General Motors in Silicon Valley is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the team building GM’s Commercial eCommerce platform. You will drive the technical roadmap, translate business requirements into robust systems, and oversee end-to-end delivery across catalog, billing, and payments.

You will partner with Product, Design, and Business units to launch and monetize products rapidly, mentoring a high-performing team while aligning with governance and audit requirements.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software development, product building, or related domains.
• 3+ years in engineering management, recruiting and nurturing high-performing teams.
• Experience leading technical teams through SDLC with industry best practices.
• Designing fault-tolerant, event-driven architectures with idempotent APIs and durable logs.
• Deep experience integrating core services with external ecosystems like payment processors and ERP.
• Experience defining SLIs/SLOs for mission-critical financial paths and achieving operational wins.
• Ability to bridge digital software, regulated hardware, and complex physical operations.
• BS in CS/CE/EE or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a full-stack engineering team, mentoring and driving excellence.
• Steer GM Commercial eCommerce roadmap and platform delivery.
• Lead cross-functional meetings for issue resolution and design discussions.
• Engage technically with the team in design reviews and incident post-mortems.
