Job summary

General Motors LLC is seeking a Software Development Manager to lead one or more software teams within Consumer Digital Experiences Loyalty space. The role emphasizes coaching engineers, guiding architecture, and delivering high-quality web applications using Angular, React, .NET Core, and cloud technologies.

You will set direction, manage delivery, and promote best practices across performance, security, and reliability while staying closely involved to unblock complex platform challenges.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 10 years of development experience.
• 5+ years of leadership experience including developing teams.
• Strong knowledge of web development technologies such as .Net Core / Spring Boot, Angular/React, Microservices, REST APIs, Azure or other cloud technologies, GitHub, Jira, and messaging middleware.

Responsibilities

• Set technical and delivery direction by translating business strategy into team priorities, roadmaps, and measurable outcomes.
• Lead and develop engineering teams through hiring, coaching, feedback, mentoring, stretch assignments, and career development.
• Manage concurrent projects and delivery execution, including scope, capacity, dependencies, risks, blockers, and on-time delivery of high-quality data products.
• Provide technical leadership and promote strong software engineering practices, quality, reusable patterns, governance, and scalable solutions.
• Strengthen reliability, scalability, and operational excellence across the platform space.
• Communicate status and elevate issues through program reviews, Jira/Confluence reporting, risk tracking, and leadership updates.
• Lead performance tuning, usability assessment, AI adoption and automation technologies.
• Assess security risks for applications and code remediation techniques.
• Oversee integration efforts with existing software/systems.
• Maintain and debug live software systems.
• Understand and maintain compliance with GM standards and industry best practice.
• Provide deployment support and lead post go-live incident closure.
