Job summary

CoStar Group in Richmond, VA seeks a Manager, Software Engineering to lead multiple software teams in an Agile environment, delivering scalable applications using TypeScript, React, Node.js, .NET, and AWS with AI-enhanced capabilities.

This hands-on manager will mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, ensure quality, and partner with product and business stakeholders to accelerate outcomes while promoting responsible AI and observability practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
• Track record of commitment to prior employers.
• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including full-stack development.
• 2+ years of engineering leadership experience managing software teams.
• Hands-on experience with TypeScript, C#, .NET, React, SQL Server, Elasticsearch, AWS, and modern cloud-native practices.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, API design, and scalable development.
• Experience evaluating or developing AI-powered solutions and familiarity with LLMs and AI tooling.
• Strong communication and ability to engage stakeholders and leadership.
• Proven ability to recruit, mentor, and inspire high-performing teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership, architectural direction, and delivery ownership for a portfolio of software products.
• Lead and mentor high-performing teams building scalable apps using TypeScript, React, Node.js, .NET, SQL Server, AWS and AI tech.
• Guide technical design, review code, remove blockers, and contribute to key engineering initiatives.
• Drive multi-project execution, coordinating priorities, dependencies, and resources.
• Champion AI-assisted development practices to improve productivity and quality.
• Improve system resiliency with AI-powered observability and automation.
• Partner with Product and business stakeholders to streamline workflows and outcomes.
• Lead design and governance of AI-powered solutions, agents, tools, and workflows.
• Establish engineering best practices for quality, security, and scalability.
• Promote responsible AI with governance, privacy, and compliance standards.
• Represent customer voice in planning, reviews, and releases.
