Job summary

Houston Engineering, Inc. invites talented Civil/Environmental engineering students for a Water Resources Engineering Intern position.

You will assist with plan specs, estimates, and construction records, and support AutoCAD Civil 3D drawings and field surveys using GPS and Total Station. The internship offers exposure to water quantity and quality challenges, with hands-on design and data collection across diverse project sites in the Midwest.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in Civil/Environmental/related engineering program.
• Coursework in surveying and AutoCAD preferred.
• Able to perform outdoor work for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Assist with plan specifications and estimates and document construction activities.
• Assist with AutoCAD Civil 3D drawings and updateredlines with project drawings.
• Operate GPS and Total Station survey instruments.
• Work with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, ArcGIS software.
• Support observation and data collection at project sites.
• Assist with research, development and design of projects.

Job Description

As an intern, responsibilities may include some or all of the following:

• Assist with plan specifications and estimates as well as documenting construction activities.
• Assist withAutoCAD Civil 3D drawings and updateredlines withvarious project set drawings.
• Operate electronic survey instruments such as GPS and Total Station.
• Perform workin a variety ofsoftware such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, ArcGIS,etc.
• Potential observation and data collection at different types of project sites.
• Assistwith research, development and design of projects.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Agricultural and Biological Systems Engineering, Bioproducts and Biosystem Engineering, or related Engineering program.
• Completed coursework in general surveying and AutoCAD are preferred.
• Able to work extended periods of time in outdoor conditions.
• Above average math and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and availability for overnight travel.
