Job summary

Granite Construction is seeking an Engineer Intern for Summer 2027 in Ukiah, California. The role supports construction engineering operations, interprets drawings, prepares documentation, and aids with material management under experienced mentors.

The ideal candidate is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field, with 0–2 years of experience. Strong MS Office skills and basic trig calculations are expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and working toward a bachelor’s degree.
• 0–2 years of construction estimating support, engineering, field support, or similar experience.
• Proficiency with MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Ability to perform trigonometric calculations manually or with a calculator.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others.

Responsibilities

• Interpret design drawings for takeoff and workforce for bidding and building construction projects.
• Prepare and distribute reports, punch lists, sketches, and material calculations to supervisor.
• Provide technical support on project materials, delivery dates, and schedules.
• Assist with change orders and estimates by preparing drawings to support estimating work.
• Develop data including quantity take-offs and material pricing for estimates and bids.
• Maintain records of quantities and materials installed for cost controls.
