Job summary

DLA Piper seeks a Director of Engineering to lead the design, development, delivery, modernization, and support of enterprise technology solutions, aligning with firm priorities. The role drives strategic leadership for software engineering, application development, and systems integration, ensuring secure, scalable, and maintainable capabilities.

The position collaborates with value streams, IT services, and business stakeholders to improve productivity, client experience, and revenue growth,

Qualifications

Minimum 10+ years in software engineering or application development
At least 5 years in a senior leadership or management role overseeing multiple teams or portfolios
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; Master’s preferred

Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership for engineering and application development across value streams.
Set technical direction, architectural standards, and engineering practices to ensure secure, scalable, maintainable solutions.
Partner with IT, legal operations, and business stakeholders to translate outcomes into roadmaps and delivery strategy.
Lead engineering execution and continuous delivery balancing innovation, platform stability, and technical debt reduction.
Oversee governance, metrics, and reporting for platform health and delivery outcomes.
