Job summary

DLA Piper is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the design, development, delivery, modernization, and ongoing support of enterprise technology solutions that underpin the firm’s legal and business operations.

The role provides strategic and operational leadership for software engineering, application development, and systems integration, ensuring secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions aligned with enterprise priorities.

Qualifications

Broad engineering leadership experience in software engineering and application development.
Experience translating business outcomes into technology roadmaps.
Proven ability to manage budgets, vendors, and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership for engineering and application development across firmwide capabilities.
Set technical direction, standards, and practices to ensure secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
Collaborate with IT, legal operations, and business stakeholders to translate priorities into executable roadmaps.
Lead engineering delivery, drive continuous improvement, and balance innovation with stability.
Oversee multiple workstreams, ensure quality, debt reduction, and operational excellence.
Govern governance, metrics, and reporting for platform health and delivery outcomes.
Ensure compliance with security, risk, governance, and data protection standards.
